Postdoc Position: AI/ML and Diabetes Research
We are looking for a postdoc researcher with strong expertise in AI/ML to work with the dkNET team (NIDDK Information Network; https://dknet.org/). This position emphasizes independent and collaborative research on developing and integrating AI/ML methodologies into the dkNET’s Computational Core to advance NIDDK’s efforts in applying AI to diabetes research. In addition to conducting research, the postdoc will help coordinate activities for dkNET AI Pilot Program and AI-relevant activities, manage data and computational workflows, and engage with interdisciplinary investigators to support the translation of AI methods into biomedical research. The primary site of this position will be the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) under the supervision of Prof. Wei Wang.

Responsibilities
Develop, deploy and integrate AI/ML models with the dkNET Computational Core.
Support and manage the dkNET AI Pilot Program, ensuring projects stay on track and meet deadlines.
Help establish and grow the AI/ML research community.
Prepare progress reports and organize meetings and related activities
Coordinate with different research groups and PIs.
Work with dkNET team on NIDDK’s AI initiatives related to diabetes.
Qualifications
PhD in AI/ML, data science, computer science, biomedical informatics, or a related field.
Strong background in AI/ML methods and technical skills such as large language model, generative AI model, agentic AI, federated learning, AI ethics.
Project management and coordination experience.
Good communication and writing skills.
Commitment to a minimum of two years.
Preferred
Knowledge of diabetes research or related biomedical fields.
Experience working in collaborative, multi-group projects.
