Description: A non-profit institution that engages scientists from academia, government and industry to identify and resolve global health and environmental issues. As a neutral third party organization, it acts as an objective forum for initiating dialogue among scientists with different perspectives and expertise, in the attempt to create a pathway that can resolve issues identified by its multi-sector membership and the external scientific community. HESI's bylaws require that all HESI activities are directed and carried out in an objective manner for the benefit of the public health. HESI conducts, organizes, and/or supports, original laboratory research; workshops; conferences; literature reviews; the development and analysis of databases; and many other scientific activities. HESI makes the outcomes of these activities available to the scientific community and the public through peer-reviewed journals; monographs; scientific symposia and posters; and other print- and web-based publications.
